Hāpi Sessions 2020 – Garage Project
Aug 30 2020

One of the highlights of 2019 were our Hāpi Sessions. With some of the most talented brewers in the world visiting New Zealand for the hop harvest and our Hāpi Festival it was a unique opportunity to come together in a collaborative, creative celebration of the ways in which hops can be expressed in beer. The Sessions involved four collaborations with four breweries at the top of their game resulting in four brews, each showcasing a different hop forward style. Not only was it great fun, but some of our favourite beers of recent years came out of these ‘freestyle’ brewing sessions.

The world was a simpler place back then.

We’d planned to do the same this year. Flights were booked, recipes concocted, excitement was growing… and then a little thing called Covid came along.

So this year, in keeping with the ‘new normal’, we’re running our Hāpi Sessions as a ‘pen pal’ series, with two brews dropping now and two to follow. Instead of meeting in person we’ve been madly ‘zoom brewing’, and the beers we’ve produced in these Hapi Sessions prove that even extensive social distance is no barrier to creative collaboration.

These beers will also be brewed and released at our pen pal’s own breweries for their fans, this is a first for us and we couldn’t be more excited.

The first two of our Haps Sessions 2020 series will release very soon, sign up to our mailing list to not miss out.
