St. Arnold Berliner-Style Weisse
First released June '17
Brewed with: Kellerweis yeast, Saaz, Amarillo
One of the 12 Sierra Nevada Across the World collaborations, this time with Texan brewers St. Arnold. They wanted to make a beer that was a bit outside both brewries' normal wheelhouses, so together they chose to create a twist on the classic, tart, Berliner Weisse. They're playing off the slightly sour twang of the base beer by adding heaps of dry-hopped flavour to complenment the tartness with citrusy and fruit-forward hop notes. The primary yest strain is Sierra Nevada's famous Kellerweis wheat beer yeast, which imparts notes of banana and clove, blending seamlessly with the hops to create a dry, white-wine like flavour that is as crisp and refreshing as anything we've tried.
