Grunge inspired, an all American pale ale brewed for Music2Brew2 waaaay back in 2015.
A hard core, hoppy celebration of the tunes that inspire the beer we brew. Dirty is the oeprative word - and in its inception, this was one of the more filthy versions of hoppy GP beers, with its charging qualities of stone fruit, citrus, dark berries and slight dankness from dirty hops. Assertive flavour from aroma to finish, with a bitterness that can be aggressive to the inexperienced and racey to those that are.
"The beer, inspired by the Sonic Youth song, was originally brewed for a special gig we did where members of the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra and an assortment of local musos, played tracks by bands that have inspired Garage beers - with a Stranglers set (accompanied with pints of Golden Brown), the Dead Kennedys (with California Uber Alles) and a set of Sonic Youth covers, all orchestrated by conductor Hamish McKeich. It was one of the funnest Garage events we've ever done and I always think fondly of this beer as a result.
This was T. Wei's first beer label for us after we met him doing art on the outside of the Garage. Tien's inimitable style is perfect, filling the whole can with a thrashing mass of anarchic animals, like some kind of mosh pit in a bizzare grunge zoo. What's not to love. Music is a big inspiration behind a number of our beers. From the name, beer concept through to the look and feel from the album art. Dirty Boots emerged around a music inspired beer event and what better to celebrate than the mosh pit. Tien was the only choice really for a scene of depravity and chaos inside our very own imaginary malt and hop mosh pit. It's a riot of frantic activity and one of our most complex printed cans by a long shot."
