Things don’t get much more exciting for a brewer than getting your hands on a hop variety you’ve never tried before. Pretty exciting for you, the drinker, too - and what better place to showcase it than in a FRESH IPA?
The malt base of JUNE is a mix of 100% NZ light lager malt and white wheat. As part of our ongoing efforts to improve our carbon footprint, we’re looking to use less and less imported malts.
Honestly, when you have access to super fresh, great tasting, plump, high quality local malt, why go anywhere else? This uber-smooth, subtly sweet blend of lightly kilned barley and wheat is the perfect base to show off hops.
And what are these hops?
It’s a super fruity blend for JUNE with Azzaca (often described as juicy mango), tropical Citra Cryo, and Bru-1.
Now, Bru-1 has been around for a few years, but we’ve never really played around with it before.
We definitely will be using it again. Our sensory team described FRESH JUNE as smooth and seamless tropical fruit, with balanced bitterness, delicate pineapple, lychee, ripe mango, white jet plane lollies, sherbert, citrus and floral notes.
Fuck’n aye, that sounds like an antidote to June gloom.
Cheers! Fresh IPA, a rolling, ever-changing, monthly series of one-offs, brewed in small batches and available only from our brewery outlets and only while stocks last.
Each batch is an opportunity to try a new brewery fresh IPA, unfiltered and unfined, showcasing a unique combination of yeast, malt and hops.
Just fun, fresh hoppy beer at its best.
