Welcome to the Aro Cellar Door; a bottle shop and tasting room where you can get freshly crafted beer, straight from the source.
We have 8 rotating beer taps, all available for tasting free of charge.
Bring your own vessel, buy a reusable one from us or get cold frosty cans and bottles straight from the fridge.
We also offer Crowlers. A 946ml aluminium cans (blame the Americans for the weird sizing) that are purged with C02 for freshness, filled and sealed on the spot to take home.
Aro Cellar Door is housed right next to the original brewery in Aro Valley, Wellington.
Can I bring my own vessel to fill with beer off your taps?
Yes please, we encourage you to reduce, reuse & recycle! You can bring your own vessel to fill. If you don’t have one we have several options: you can grab one of the reusable flagons we have to buy, one of our reusable plastic PET’s or a single use crowler can for $2.00. We are also part of a pilot scheme called Again Again where you can borrow flagons for a small fee.
Do you sell cans & bottles?
Do we ever! We have a full range of Garage Project available, six packs, slabs, single cans, bottles, Dirty Water, Wines and Wild Workshop beers to purchase. We often have limited and venue only releases available too.
Can I have a pint here?
Nope, we are an off license venue and only offer takeaway beer. If you’re after a pint or tasting flight, our Taproom is just a small wander up the road. They have 18 taps to choose from and a few tasty morsels to go with.
Do you offer full tastings?
We sure do. We would love to run you through a full tasting of all the beers we have on tap. All our venue staff are ready to guide your tasting exploration.

Do you sell any Garage Project merchandise?
Come stock up! We have posters of our artist-created labels, t-shirts, gift packs, glassware, stickers, magnets and other seasonal merch.
Do you ever have special events?
We have had some real shindigs down here. Pizza parties. Taco Parties. Beer Ice cream parties. All sorts! Keep up to date by checking out our Instagram here.
Do you offer brewery tours?
Nope unfortunately, we don’t offer tours here at our Aro Valley brewery. But the good news is our Wild Workshop brewery in the city runs tours on Friday, Saturdays and Sundays. You can book here (link to Wild Workshop Tours)
Am I able to bring my dog into the Cellar Door?
We love pooches of all kinds, please do bring them along!
Is the Cellar Door family friendly?
Kids are welcome when accompanied by their legal parent or guardian.
