August is here - for us at GP, that means Beervana. And after a long dark winter in the Aro Valley, it means Spring is finally on its way.
Wheat, oats, chit and light lager - now something of a ‘classic combo’ that consistently delivers the haze we know. Mosaic in the whirl for a soft tropic base, and a dry-hop of Oregon Strata - one of my favourite varieties, loaded with citrus and pineapple - alongside small hand-selected lots of US harvest hops that we’ve been saving for a special occasion; with probably the best example of Hollingberry Cashmere that I’ve come across - “fruit candy” we wrote during harvest notes - topped with a heap of Yakima Idaho-7 boasting ‘intense pineapple’.
Lush lemon sherbet haze in glass, sweet mango and ripe mandarin top notes. Orange citrus immediately on the palate with loads of mandarin and tangerine - cruising to canned peaches with a huge hit of crushed pineapple. Imagine a mouthful of orange and yellow skittles with a couple of milk bottle lollies and a pear drop for good measure. Mā te wā.
